Astrophotography: touching the stars
We started our journey by gazing at the sky. Astrophotography is the activity that unites the passion for astronomy and night photography of the cosmos. As we move away from the big cities, at nightfall, the sky becomes another landscape that adds magic to the surroundings, inviting you to immortalise the moment. Imagine the beauty of a starry backdrop and the moon with a medieval castle at its feet. You can capture this in the castles of Belmonte (Cuenca), Loarre (Huesca) and Peñafiel (Valladolid) or in the Caliphate fortress of Gormaz (Soria). In the region of the El Atazar reservoir and its surrounding area, in the Region of Madrid, there are up to six signposted viewpoints where you can take a route, all of which are equipped and perfect for taking the best photographs. Also at the Mirador de las Estrellas de Albarracín (Teruel). The observatories of Teide (Tenerife), Roque de los Muchachos (La Palma) or Calar Alto (Almería) organise activities so that you can take stunning photos thanks to the lack of light pollution. The same is true of the spectacular deserts of Tabernas (Almeria) and Los Monegros (Aragon). On your itinerary, don't miss the opportunity to visit the first Robotic Telescope Hosting site in Europe high up in the mountains of Nerpio (Albacete). In addition, Spain boasts more than fifty Starlighttourist destinations, i.e. places with excellent conditions for stargazing and where related tourism activities are carried out.

The beauty of nature
Nature photography is most sought after by those who enjoy the tranquillity and richness of the environment. How do you photograph something as immense as a nature reserve or a seascape? Many of these sites are well signposted, so you will find it very easy.Ravines, waterfalls, snow-capped mountains, lush forests, volcanic landscapes, wetlands, beech forests, rivers, lakes and a variety of flora and fauna is what you will be able to capture with your camera in places as spectacular as the National Parks of Ordesa y Monte Perdido, Bardenas Reales, Arribes del Duero, Picos de Europa, Timanfaya or Las Médulas, among others. The Cazorla Viewpoint Route connects several panoramic points that allow you to take in the best views of the historic medieval quarter of this town in Jaén and its natural surroundings. Bird photography is a firm favourite among nature lovers.Much of Spain is surrounded by the sea, so free up some space on your camera card or mobile phone because the number of beaches, cliffs and coves you'll want to immortalise is enormous. You'll see how to get more likes on Instagram.

Cities from above
We continue our photographic journey in search of the best postcard of Spanish cities. And we do it with panoramic images that you will remember forever. This is the case of the viewpoints, terraces and roof terraces. One of the most stunning skylines is that of Madrid. And also its multiple perspectives that you can capture from emblematic places such as the rooftops of the Círculo de Bellas Artes and the Cibeles Palace, the Moncloa Lighthouse, the Temple of Debod or the Cuña Verde de Latina park. You will also want to frame the views of Toledo from the Mirador del Valle viewpoint, of San Sebastián from Monte Igueldo, of Soria from the Shrine of San Saturio or the Mirador de los Cuatro Vientos viewpoint, and you will have the best panoramic view of Badajoz and the Guadiana River from the Alcazaba. Nor can you forget to visit the San Pablo Bridge in Cuenca, with the Huécar River below it, or the unique view of Palencia from the Cristo del Otero. It is one of the best places to photograph the city and its surroundings.

The magical light of sunrises and sunsets
Many amateur photographers seek to capture images of Spain in what is referred to as the golden hour or the blue hour, which are the predominant tones just before and after a sunrise or sunset. They are the most highly rated subjects in photography competitions and this country is one of the best settings for them. You can take a fantastic photographic tour along the coast and wait for that special moment when the sun sets at the Mermaids’ Reef in Cabo de Gata (Almería); at the Playa de las Catedrales beach in Ribadeo (Lugo); the Ebro Delta in Tarragona, or at what was known in Roman times as the 'end of the world': the Cape of Fisterra (A Coruña). But not only on the coast, also the majestic canvas of a sunset from the New Bridge in Ronda (Malaga) and the beautiful sunrises in the Enchanted City of Cuenca or the dancing of the birds over the wetlands of the Tablas de Daimiel National Park (Ciudad Real) are worthy of being recorded.

Singular and colourful festivities
We end this particular journey with the explosion of colours of the country's traditional and most singular festivals. Some are well known all over the world, such as San Fermín, La Tomatina de Buñol, the April Fair in Seville, the Fallas in Valencia or the carnivals of Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Cadiz, but there are many others that you will also want to add to your album. Spring and summer are the ideal time to travel from village to village and participate in their celebrations. Here are some ideas: the Battle of the Flowers in Laredo (Cantabria), the Cherry Blossom Festival in the Jerte Valley (Extremadura), the Cordoba Patio Festival, the Viking Pilgrimage in Catoira (Pontevedra), the Battle of Atapuerca Festival (Burgos)...Ah! And don't forget your photos of Spanish food either: tapas, pinchos, appetisers and all kinds of culinary delights, which are not only delicious, but also tempting to photograph because of their original presentation and the colour of their varied ingredients.
