Dry stone wall experience in Cueto (Santander)

Explore the dry-stone walls on an interpreted walk through Cueto in Santander (Cantabria). Discover their value as an Intangible Heritage of Humanity, collaborate in their restoration, and enjoy a wine and local produce tasting. A journey through history, nature, and tradition!This experience brings together knowledge, dissemination, and the recovery of a cultural landscape. A singular and unique rural landscape facing the abrupt intersection with the Cantabrian Sea, divided by dry-stone walls (morios) and with a rich agricultural past. Following the network of rural paths in Cueto (North Coast of Santander), a guided walk through the "morios" (dry-stone walls) will help us delve deeper into the geology of the environment, its biology, the transformation of land uses, the natural and cultural heritage, and the restoration of the vineyards that this unique landscape harbors.We also offer a workshop to introduce the construction technique of dry stone walls, a traditional and popular construction technique declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2018, thus contributing to its dissemination, preservation, and restoration.It includes a tasting of wines grown in the area and a sampling of products produced within the Costa Quebrada Geopark.
