Geo-route -Gállego River’sglacier
It may seem unbelievable, but only 35,000 years ago, the ice of a big glacier covered the whole Alto Gállego Valley almost all the way to Sabiñánigo. Afterwards, the Earth’s temperature rose and the ice disappeared, but it left many clues of its presence all along the valley. Throughout this excursion we will follow these clues while discovering the story that each of them tells us:- The valley’s U-shape.- The frontal moraine on which today stands the village of Senegüé. - The amazing Os Lucas Waterfall, vestige of a hanging valley.- The fairy chimneys in the Arás Gully, bizarre geological formations of a unique beauty made at a lateral moraine. If you want to travel into a frozen past, when big mammoths wandered very close to here, you cannot miss this visit. Estimated duration: 3-4 hoursThe duration is an estimate and only half of it would be reallymoving around; the rest would be used for explanations at the different stops along the route.
