“¡Hola! ¿Cómo estás?” Maybe you've heard this greeting. But have you ever thought of taking your Spanish a bit further than just these three words? In Spain you'll find a huge range of courses and opportunities to take the plunge and gain confidence in the language.Here’s how you can study and have fun at the same time.

First of all, ask yourself why you want to learn Spanish. No doubt lots of reasons will come to mind. But don't worry, throughout the country you'll find activities and people to help you to improve your language skills.A great place to plan your study getaway is Salamanca. This is Spain’s most famous student town, ideal for soaking up knowledge. It boasts one of Europe’s oldest universities, and is the perfect place to take the DELE exams. When you finish studying for the day, you can stroll its historic streets and admire its two cathedrals.You could also visit Alcalá de Henares, the birthplace of Cervantes, author of the world-famous novel Don Quixote. Here too you can take the official exams, and there are lots of Spanish courses available.

Both Salamanca and Alcalá de Henares are very close to Madrid so it's easy to jump in the car and visit the capital, where you can practise everything you've been learning.If what you want is to take a deeper look at the history of the language, San Millán de la Cogolla in La Rioja is considered to be the cradle of Spanish, a place that will take you right back to its origins. It's a fascinating place.There are more than 400 million Spanish speakers in the world today; do you want to be one of them?
