When you finish studying for the day, you can stroll its historic streets and admire its two cathedrals.You could also visit Alcalá de Henares, the birthplace of Cervantes, author of the world-famous novel: don quixote. Here too you can take the official exams, and there are lots of Spanish courses available.

Both Salamanca and Alcalá de Henares are very close to Madrid so it's easy to jump in the car and visit the capital, where you can practise everything you've been learning. Or you could enroll on a Spanish course in the summer. That way you can learn the language and be fully immersed in the Spanish culture while you have some holiday fun. There are courses organised every year in Santander and in Comillas. Both universities also offer the possibility of preparing for the DELE exams. If you want to dive into the history of the language, San Millán de la Cogolla, in La Rioja, is considered to be the cradle of Spanish and will take you right back to its origins.
