
Five Greenways accessible to all
The Greenways are old railway lines that are currently not used and which were used to transport goods and passengers. These routes, which are spread over many different areas of Spain, have now become original itineraries for hiking and cycle touring with optimum accessibility conditions.Due to their gentle relief and the elimination of barriers and obstacles on their routes, these routes are comfortable for all types of travellers, including people with reduced mobility, children and the elderly. Greenways cross amazing landscapes, in which you will be in direct contact with nature, and discover towns and cities with an impressive cultural heritage. You will cross some of the most beautiful routes, all of which are accessible to everyone.

Senda del Oso Vía Verde cycling route
In Asturias, the Vía Verde de la Senda del Oso invites you to follow a 14-kilometre route that covers 14 protected natural spaces in the province. The route starts in the village of Entrago, in the valley of Teverga and crossed by the river Trubia. Its landscapes are made up of vertiginous walls, lush forests and blankets of deep green vegetation. Where a mining train used to travel, today you can enter the Parque Natural de Las Ubiñas-La Mesa, with fantastic panoramic views of beech, yew and holly trees, the pre-Romanesque churches of La Plaza and Tuñón or the beautiful medieval village of Bandujo.This greenway has six sections, all of which are paved with cement and accessible to people with reduced mobility (PRM). In addition, the routes are signposted along the entire length with signs and panels, which can be easily read by people with intellectual disabilities, and there are different areas to rest, as well as drinking fountains. Visually impaired people can obtain tourist information in braille and in high relief at the Valles del Oso Mountain Bike Centre, in Tuñón and in the Buyera Recreational Area.

Plazaola Greenway
Between Navarra and Gipuzkoa, the railway line of Plazaola, which was used by the small mining train that travelled between Pamplona and Donostia-San Sebastián, you can now find a greenway. The route covers 77 kilometres of thick forests and tunnels carved out of the mountain where you can travel through the Larraun and Leitzarán valleys.Madrid's Plazaola Greenway has four stretches that are designed for people with intellectual disabilities and people with reduced mobility, although you must check the different access points first since not all of them are suitable for people with reduced mobility. Access no. 12 at Andoain city centre is fully adapted and has no slopes. Tourist information available in braille and high relief at Lekunberri station.

Laciana Greenway
To the north of the León, the Laciana Valley is home to the natural space declared a Biosphere Reserve by the UNESCO, made up of lush birch, oak and chestnut tree forests, and summits reaching an altitude of over 2,000 metres. Its landscape around the river Sil is home to gorges, high mountain pastures and a Special Protection Area for Birds (SPA) and other protected species such as the capercaillie, the wolf or the brown bear. The Cueto Nidio viewpoint offers spectacular panoramic views of the valley.One of the advantages of Vía Verde de Laciana is suitable for people with reduced mobility and intellectual disabilities in its 6 kilometres of length. There are also bicycles adapted for people with disabilities.

El Aceite Greenway
The olive groves of this 125-kilometre long path mark the Mediterranean identity of this greenway, where you can also discover 13 viaducts dating back to the 19th century, which are some of the examples of engineering of the era. From the Jaén and crossing interesting municipalities like Baena, Zuheros, Lucena or Puente Genil, in Córdoba, at Oil greenway has plenty of incredible activities. Visits to learn about the production process of the area's prized extra virgin olive oil, tastings and samplings that combine the best of the area's gastronomy are some of them. 11 of the stretches of this route are suitable for people with reduced mobility (PRM) and people with intellectual disabilities.

Vía Verde de la Sierra
Another of the old railway routes of Andalusia, between the Cadiz and the Seville is the Mountain range greenway between Serrano and Olvera. This route covers 36 kilometres through fantastic scenery. Contemplating the sky over the Peñón de Zaframagón and observing a holm oak tree more than 200 years old in Chaparro de la Vega or one of the largest colonies of griffon vultures in Europe are some of the pleasant surprises that await you on this route. There are six stretches for people with reduced mobility or with intellectual disabilities. All of them have adapted parking facilities and four offer a special bicycle service.
