Zaragoza’s big annual festival, the Fiestas del Pilar, takes place in October. The offering of flowers to the Virgen del Pilar is one of the main events in the city’s extensive programme of activities for this time of year. The beginning of the month is also the time of the Fiestas de San Froilán in Lugo, one of the most popular celebrations in Galicia, as well as the Moors and Christians Festival in Crevillent. Autumn also brings with it some important food-related events, such as the Seafood Festival or the Fiesta de la Rosa del Azafrán (Saffron Rose Festival). Meanwhile, in other cities such as Alcalá de Henares, literature and theatre take centre stage, with events such as Cervantes Week, which pays tribute to Cervantes, author of the famous Don Quixote de la Mancha, and Don Juan en Alcalá, a night-time performance of the play ‘Don Juan Tenorio’ on the evening before All Saints’ Day.Here you can see some of the festivals that usually take place in Spain in October:
