From Tàpies to Klee
The museum displays works of art created over the past 75 years.
The MACBA opened in 1995 and was designed by North American Richard Meier. Inside there are works by contemporary artists such as Antoni Tàpies, Paul Klee, Francesc Torres, Mario Merz and Zush. The collection is focused on the legacy of the second half of the 20th century and looks to establish a critical memory of the art of this period from a point of view that recognises the cultural and political landscape of a specific city such as Barcelona.
