Parrots eating fruit at Loro Parque

Loro Parque

Tenerife

This is one of the most famous animal parks in the Canary Islands, and has the largest collection of parrots in the world.

It was founded in 1972 as a refuge for parrots and has since become one of the Canary Islands foremost tourist attractions. It covers an area of 135,000 m² and features an aquarium and a wide variety of animals such as dolphins, sea lions, gorillas, chimpanzees, penguins and killer whales. It is also home to a realistic reproduction of various natural habitats, with original spaces such as 'Planet Penguin', housing an iceberg with over 200 penguins. At Loro Parque you can also attend shows such as "Orca Ocean" to enjoy the orcas, and walk along lush forest paths to discover birds from all over the world.Another of the most recent attractions is "Katandra Treetops", a trip to Australia set among hanging bridges in the treetops, and jungle paths where you can feed exotic birds.
