    Entering this place is like entering Dalí's own mind and discovering, through its nooks and crannies, the many facets of his personal and artistic universe. It is said to be the largest surrealist object in the world, the , his most ambitious piece of work. The museum, where most of the pieces were selected and exhibited in the different spaces by Dalí himself, was created by the author as a gift for his hometown, Figueres. This is also the starting point for the Dalí route, which takes in the places in the town associated with the artist: You just have to follow the path marked by the ants engraved on the floor tiles. Madrid's Salvador Dalí Birthplace, where you can learn more about his life while enjoying an immersive experience, is one of them.

    The residence and workshop that Salvador Dalí had for more than 40 years can be found in Portlligat, a cove at Cadaqués, some 40 kilometres from Figueres. In love with the landscape and the light of the Cap de Creus, Dalí bought a small fisherman’s hut in this corner of the Costa Brava in 1930. Over time, he expanded the space with other neighbouring huts and transformed the place into the labyrinthine structure of the current museum house. It is necessary to book in advance to visit it. Here, you will feel the magic that comes from contemplating the Mediterranean landscape that surrounds you from its different rooms. You can also see the artist's studio and workshop, Dalí and Gala's personal objects and souvenirs, and tour the outdoor patios and garden, where the couple engaged in public life.

    Salvador Dalí's overflowing creativity turned the old Gothic castle of Púbol into an intimate refuge, full of surprises and architectural mysteries, for his beloved Gala. Also located approximately 40 kilometres from Figueres, this vertex of the “Dalinian Triangle” is a gift that the artist created out of love and devotion, where his particular surrealist universe is present in the decoration of all the spaces, including the garden. Visiting this place, to which Dalí could only gain access after receiving the express written invitation of his muse, will take you deep into their history and the personal relationship that brought them together.

    “My mystical paradise begins in the plains of the Empordà, surrounded by the hills of the Alberes, reaching its fullness in the bay of Cadaqués”. The landscape is my ongoing inspiration.” Dalí's fascination with the landscape, nature and the coastline of Cap de Creus is at the origin of essential details in his works of art. An example of this is a large rock located in the cove of Cullaró, the source of inspiration for the famous painting of The Great Masturbator. In the surroundings of this beautiful spot you will recognise many Dalí-esque scenes. You can find out about all the existing routes and trails by visiting the Cap de Creus lighthouse, where there is an information point and a small museum of the Cap de Creus Natural Park. In addition, from Cadaqués there is an itinerary of just over 7 kilometres that will take you to the lighthouse through the area of the natural park.

    The ideal complement to the tour of the house-museums that make up the “Dalinian Triangle” can be found in these two Madrid museums that exhibit the surrealist art of Salvador Dalí. Not only will you have the opportunity to contemplate some of his most famous paintings, but you will also see significant examples of other facets and stages of his artistic career. For example, at the Reina Sofía National Art Museum, along with works such as The Invisible Man, Young Woman at a Window, or The Great Masturbator, you will see his abstract and cubist works, sketches for theatre set designs and even the short film “Un Chien Andalou”, his collaboration with Luis Buñuel. Nearby, at the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Art Museum, you will be confronted with his iconic themes in paintings such as “Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening” and Gradiva rediscovers the Anthropomorphic Ruins (Retrospective Fantasy).
