The Mariña Lucense is the eastern part of the coastline on the shores of the Cantabrian Sea. This is an area of sea and mountains, rivers and estuaries and home to famous beaches like As Catedrais (The Cathedrals).

The Mariña Lucense has around 100 kilometres of coastline where you'll find old whaling ports and a variety of landscapes such as the Río Eo, Osco y Terras de Burón Biosphere Reserve, the As Catedrais beach (where the rocks form monumental arches) and Coelleira island. The Mariña Lucense comprises the town halls of Alfoz, Barreiros, Burela, Cervo, Foz, Lourenzá, Mondoñedo, Ourol, A Pontenova, Ribadeo, Trabada, O Valadouro, O Vicedo, Viveiro and Xove.

Sports at the beach

Many of the beaches in this area have the Blue Flag, and are fully equipped for all types of water sports such as surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, kayaking and sailing. There are endless beaches such as Cova (in Viveiro, stretching for 1.5 kilometres) and other small coves.

Crafts

The whole region is famous for the routes available for learning all about traditional trades: ceramics, pottery, fishing nets, carpentry… Other interesting sights include the Provincial Museum of the Sea.
