Diverse landscapes on the coast

What makes this park most remarkable is the diversity of its ecosystems.

In the park we distinguish several different landscapes. First, we have the cliffs, with altitudes ranging from 10 to 50 metres. There is also an area of beaches open to the sea, such as the Merón and Oyambre beaches, and another spot of “inland beaches” opening onto the estuaries, such as the San Vicente or La Rabia beaches. Then we find the estuaries of San Vicente and La Rabia, which form another distinct ecosystem. The most varied and biologically rich group is the marsh. The fifth landscape is the one formed by the dune complexes. Finally, the inland area forms small hillocks, covered with meadows and crossed by streams. Thus, the park's fauna and vegetation are highly diverse depending on the ecosystem in question. Thus, we find the peregrine falcon nesting on the cliffs and numerous species of migratory birds in the marshes.
