Ayna

Albacete

Located in the deepest part of the gorge carved out by the river Mundo, in a striking, rugged natural enclave, Ayna is one of the area’s most picturesque villages.

Due to its unique location, farming land is scarce, so the inhabitants of Ayna grow their different crops on terraces dug into the mountainside. Its historical and artistic heritage include the hermitage of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, where the main attraction is the coffered ceiling over the nave, in the Mudéjar tradition; and Yedra castle, of Islamic origin, on the outskirts of the village. On the road out of the village, the viewing point mirador del Diablo is a must-see with a spectacular panoramic view. Also of interest, El Niño cave, with paleolithic cave paintings.
