English Way: The Camino from Ferrol to Santiago

The English Way route is one of the Camino de Santiago traditionally used by pilgrims coming from the British Isles and Ireland on their way to Santiago. Pilgrims used to arrived by boat at the port of Ferrol and then continue their journey following a trail along the rugged coastline, passing towns such as Pontedeume and Betanzos. 1th Day: Arrival to Ferrol. Fill in for Pilgrims pass “La Credencial” and enjoy the small town. Accommodation in Ferrol. Meals: Breakfast2nd Day: Ferrol-Pontedeume (31 km) The original port of Curuxeiras dates from the 9th century and it is from here that the English Way starts. As you leave the town you will pass the 8th century San Martino de Xubio monastery, along a coastal path. Then you will join the Camino Real or Royal Way. Meals: Breakfast3rd Day: Pontedeume-Betanzos (17 km) You will travel along the coast to the estuary of the Lambre river on a path that holds beautiful views of the Rias de Betzanos and the surrounding marshlands. Betzanos has some of the most interesting historical buildings Meals: Breakfast4th Day: Betanzos-San Paio de Buscás (36 km).You will see you cross the Mendo River by way of the ancient bridge of As Casca. You will pass the hermitage of San Paio and travel through agricultural lands to the village of Bruma with its medieval hospital. Meals: Breakfast5th Day: San Paio de Buscás-Marantes (Sigüeiro) (26 km) The Camino leaves Bruma from the chapel and heads into the lovely green area of Ordes. You will then pass the church of San Xiao and the village of Casanova on your way to Siguero. Meals: Breakfast6th Day: Marantes (Sigüeiro)-Santiago (12 km) You begin crossing the bridge over the Tambe river. The path follows the river and you will come to the English Fountain of "Fonte do Ingles". The Camino soon enters Santaigo and finishes at the magnificent cathedral. Meals: Breakfast7th Day: Santiago. We suggest visit the Cathedral
