Cathedral Treasure-Museum

Toledo

Located in the Cathedral, it includes several interesting areas, such as the Treasury-Reliquary, Chapter House, Sacristy, Choir and Chancel. Inside the Treasury chapel, the monstrance by Enrique de Arfe (16th century) is on display. Of special interest in the Sacristy are a painting of the apostles and "The Spoliation" by El Greco, as well as paintings by Goya, Titian, Raphael, Van Dyck and Bellini, and a St. Francis of Assisi carved by Pedro de Mena. In the room that leads to the vestry, there is another excellent collection of paintings, with works by Velázquez and Ribera. The Chapter House contains frescos by Juan de Borgoña and the portraits of all the prelates of the Archdiocese. In the Chancel, there is an extraordinary altarpiece, the combined work of Enrique Egas, Felipe Vigarny, Copín de Holanda and Juan de Borgoña, among others. Finally, the Choir has an extensive collection of works by such sculptors as Berruguete, Vigarny and Rodrigo Alemán.
