Madrid
The Town Hall building was once the old San Carlos Borromeo college-convent, also known as “Los Agonizantes”. In 1870 it became the Town Hall. The façade is eclectic in style and the assembly hall is decorated with stucco. Inside there is a large collection of paintings including Alberto Pla y Rubio’s “To War” and Víctor Manzano’s “These are my powers”, among others. It is also home to the city’s four silver ceremonial maces.
