Spanish cities for a weekend getaway

There is always a moment of the year when we start fantasising... how about getting away for a weekend? Spain is the ideal country for this. It has a variety of cities that are perfect for enjoying with both family and friends. You can also visit at any time of the year thanks to its warm climate. It is difficult to pick the best places in Spain to spend a weekend, because there are so many to choose from, but this selection will provide you with some excellent suggestions. Charming locations where you can switch off from your daily routine, enjoy exquisite cuisine and explore in peace.

Girona Girona is a small, romantic, and surprising city with a lot to offer. It has recently become popular with visitors who come to see several of the locations from Game of Thrones. Oviedo Oviedo is the capital of Asturias and is surrounded by an expansive natural landscape. The city is notable for its pre-Romanesque art and architecture - climb Mount Naranco to see for yourself - but it also has plenty of cultural and culinary attractions.

Valladolid One of the most well-known features of Valladolid is the river Pisuerga that passes through the city. Its main square is one of the largest in Spain, and here you will have the opportunity to sample some local DO wines (Designation of Origin), as Valladolid is a fantastic destination for wine tourism. Seville Like the popular song says, ‘Seville has a special colour’. It is cut in two by the Guadalquivir river. We would highly recommend exploring its streets on foot so you can marvel at all the different colours and sounds. Another great idea is to simply sit at a pavement café and gaze at the Giralda tower. Santiago de Compostela, San Sebastián, Valencia, Logroño and Granada are some of the other iconic cities that you could also explore over the course of a weekend. All of them are perfect for relaxing and starting your week full of positive energy.
