Airports and main flight connections.

There are excellent air connections between the major Spanish cities. All flights are shorter than two hours (except to the Canary Islands).

Main airports

The main Spanish airports according to passenger traffic are:

Furthermore, bear in mind that the majority of airports are less than 20 kilometres from main city centres, which you can get to by train, taxi, bus or metro.Below is information on some of the main flight connections within Spain.

Madrid-Barcelona air shuttle

Flight duration: 1 hr 15 minutes. Frequency: daily. Weekdays with over 20 flights.The flight between the two main Spanish cities lasts barely 1 hr 15 minutes, it operates on a daily basis and is run by various companies. The airline Iberia offers the so-called "air shuttle", with up to 20 flights on weekdays for which you can arrive at the airport as little as 15 minutes before departure time.

Flights to the Canary Islands

Aeroplanes are the fastest means of transport to get to the Canary Islands from the rest of Spain. All seven Canary islands have airports, and the ones in Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and La Palma connect to various cities in the rest of Spain.
