Sail: Start of The Ocean Race 2027

Since 2008, Alicante has been the starting point and permanent home of what is considered the world's most demanding ocean race. It is also the longest-running professional sporting event on the planet. That's why Alicante is home to the competition's official museum.

On the 17th, the IMOCAs (sailing boats designed for long-distance ocean races and equipped to sail in extreme conditions) set sail for their first destination: Auckland (New Zealand), on a 14,000-nautical-mile voyage.In the days leading up to the event, Ocean Live Park hosts a packed programme of events that are open to all and free of charge, featuring concerts, educational activities for children, workshops on marine sustainability, an introduction to sailing, competitions, first-time sailing experiences and technological experiences.
