Muestra de Cine de Lanzarote Film Festival
Festival - Cinema
Lanzarote
An internationally renowned festival that connects the finest contemporary cinema with the landscape and cultural identity of Lanzarote and the entire archipelago of the Canary Islands.
Since its first edition in 2011, distinguished professionals such as Víctor Erice, Basilio Martín Patino, Rita Azevedo, Federica di Giacomo, Oliver Laxe, Nelson Carlo de los Santos, Thomas Mauch and Eva Valiño have presented their films, given courses and debated the state of contemporary cinema. One of the distinguishing features of this event is that the jury's deliberation is open to the public. In addition to the official section for films of any nationality, there is another category for Canarian filmmakers and short films that reflect the cultural richness of the region. The organisation is also working to minimise the festival's ecological footprint. Each year, efforts are made to reduce energy consumption compared to the previous edition. Activities focused on sustainability are also programmed, including talks on the protection of biodiversity in the Canary Islands and other islands around the world, as well as spaces that give visibility to local businesses and community groups.
