The Prado Museum pays tribute to those artists who, between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, discovered photography as a new form of expression.
The works on display reveal the transformation that the emergence of the first cameras brought about for these artists. Fundamentally, when it came to representing themselves and documenting their production and working spaces. The exhibition, part of the "Almacén abierto" programme, brings together a valuable selection of images produced using different techniques. They come from the archives of the painters Cecilio Pla, Fernanda Francés and the Madrazo family, and the sculptors Agustín Querol and Miguel Blay, among others.
