The Balearic Islands are much more than a Mediterranean summer paradise. In fact, Mallorca and Ibiza become ideal destinations for professional and amateur athletes during the months of March, April and May. Regattas, cycle races, and track-and-field events offer fantastic opportunities to discover the islands’ nature, beaches, and villages. Here are the main sports events to be found in these months.

    Mallorca Classic Rally – Puerto Portals / March – Mallorca

    One of the motor racing competitions with the most appeal for both aficionados and the merely curious, as it combines the charm of classic cars with the beautiful natural scenery of Mallorca.

    Ruta de la Sal Regatta / April – Ibiza and Mallorca

    This popular racing yacht regatta runs between Ibiza and Mallorca via Formentera and the islet of Tagomago. Two more routes go from Ibiza to Barcelona and Dénia (Region of Valencia).

    Ibiza International Mountain Bike Race / April – Ibiza

    The natural setting of Ibiza is paradise for mountain bike fans. The organisers also provide plenty of activities alongside the main event for supporters and spectators.

    Princess Sofía Regatta / March to April – Mallorca

    Olympic class sailors compete in the Mallorca regatta. Palma, Llucmajor, and their marinas are good spots for watching this competition.

    Sol Half Marathon Magaluf / April – Mallorca

    A different way to see this tourist resort, with a route along the beach and the main avenues. There is also a 10-kilometre race.

  • Ibiza Half Marathon / April to May – Ibiza

    Against the backdrop of the island’s stunning scenery and sea views, around 1,500 runners compete in the half marathon and the 10 kilometre race.

  • Sailing

    Palmavela Regatta / May – Mallorca

    Palma is host to one of Europe’s most famous regattas, attracting a range of craft, from ocean-going yachts to classic and vintage boats. One of the most exciting races is the real-time competition of category TP52 racing yachts.

  • Cycling in Mallorca

    Ironman 70.3 Mallorca / May – Mallorca

    The swimming and running races are held in Alcudia, while the cycle race goes through scenic inland spots like Pollença, Lluc, and Muro.
