The Royal Fortress of Majorca
Its name means citadel outside the wall.
La Almudaina was the seat of the independent kingdom of Majorca during the reigns of James II, Sancho I and James III, until it passed, in the time of Peter IV, to the crown of Aragon. The current castle was built at the beginning of the 14th century, between 1305 and 1314. The building is made up of a rectangular tower that housed the King's Palace, the Queen's Palace, a room called Tinell, the Royal Chapel and the courtyards. Inside, look out for the decoration of various tapestries and furniture reminiscent of different historical monuments. It is currently used by His Majesty the King as a residence for official ceremonies during the summer.
