Early Christians of North Africa
The remains of this basilica, consisting of a single rectangular room and two side naves, are one of the few pieces of evidence of ancient Christianity in the far west of North Africa. The museum also offers a tour that goes from prehistory to the period of Islamic domination.
Its most significant areas include that devoted to the study of the salting factories, the region’s most important economic activity in Roman times. Also outstanding are the Afterlife and Necropolis sections, where a Roman sarcophagus and several tombs of great sobriety are exhibited.
