Evolution and art

The museum is housed in San Antón Castle, an ancient fortress from the 16th century.

The exhibition is divided into three sections. The Archaeology section displays pieces which depict different periods of pre-history and ancient history in Galicia, highlights of which include the Leiro helmet, the Xanceda torques and the Cícere metalwork collection. Another area is dedicated to Medieval sculptures and to heraldry, while the section on the top floor focuses on the first historical events relating to the city.
