This is a man-made landscape in a karst environment located in the 750 hectares of a former open-pit mine. It features many animals threatened with extinction, like African elephants, Grévy's zebras and white rhinoceros.

Conceived for educational, cultural, scientific and recreational purposes, it has become a major tourist attraction in Cantabria. It houses more than one hundred animal species from all five continents. Visitors can see them in semi-freedom, as they are placed in large enclosures, in as natural an environment as possible. The circuit is designed to explore the wildlife. There are 20 kilometres of paths, which you can travel on foot and by car, to contemplate beautiful gorges and peaceful lakes, leading to all of the nature reserve's large spaces. It also has an environmental classroom and a reptile house where you can see numerous varieties of snakes and serpents.It has several parking areas, recreation areas, picnic areas, viewpoints, botanical routes, restaurants, playpark, and much more.
