Port of Mogán on the island of Gran Canaria (Canary Islands)

Mogán

Gran Canaria

Mogán, in the interior of the island of Gran Canary is the capital of a municipality with a wide range of mountain landscapes. From town, in the valley, you can take in the magnificent views of the peaks which rise towards the centre of the island.

In a matter of a few kilometres, the lush vegetation of the mountainous interior gives way to cliffs which meet the Atlantic and open out on to wide beaches with excellent facilities. The Arguineguín ravine leads to the harbour of Mogán, an old fishing neighbourhood which has become one of the most attractive places in the Canaries. Here the old houses of the seafaring village run up the slopes of the cliff, in keeping with the architectural tradition of the Canary Islands. The modern facilities of the marina also stick to tradition, using straight lines, white walls and coloured spaces. In the more modern area, the promenade makes a magnificent sight with its moored yachts. The Port of Mogán is also one of the best spots for deep-sea fishing fans to organize their outings. A great many luxury housing developments have been built on the sea shore, livening up the coast with an interesting range of leisure opportunities.
