Exhibition: Jean Marie del Moral, photographs. Horta Picasso – Miró Mont-roig
Exhibition - Graphic artsThe Miró Foundation on Majorca is hosting this exhibition by the French photographer, which explores the relationship between the two 20th-century geniuses through the landscapes of Mont-roig del Camp and Horta de Sant Joan, in Tarragona.
Both towns, just 80 kilometres apart, played a key role in Picasso’s move towards Cubism in 1909 and, ten years later, as the inspiration for Miró’s detailed paintings. The 60 images by Jean Marie Del Moral that make up the exhibition subtly reveal the curious similarities that have emerged between the mountains, shrines and rural landscapes of these places, which became a shared source of inspiration for two great artists: Picasso and Joan Miró.The work of Del Moral, renowned for his series of photographs of artists’ studios, stands out for its ability to capture, with great sensitivity, the intimacy of the studios and the creative process of such prominent figures as Antoni Tàpies, Miquel Barceló, Antonio Saura, Roy Lichtenstein and Julian Schnabel.
