Natural Cider Festival, Gijón

This festival in the city of Gijón in Asturias is a true homage to cider, the region’s favourite drink bar none.

One of the high points of the festival is when thousands of people gather on the beach, and 30,000 litres of cider and 10,000 glasses decorated with the festival logo are distributed, and a photo is taken to commemorate the event. There are also lots of activities for visitors to take part in, such as a cider pouring competition (pouring cider in the traditional way is a lot harder than you might think!) in the Town Hall square and a cider and apple market.
