Toy Story, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars, Up… are just a few of the world famous computer-animated films created by Pixar studio. Behind each film is the effort of hundreds of people who have spent thousands of hours to turn the idea into a masterpiece. This exhibition at CaixaForum Madrid reveals the secrets of the process for bringing characters to life, combining mathematics, science, technology, engineering ... and art.
The exhibition is kicked off with a general video to explain the Pixar method, and then focuses on eight sections discussing the different phases of the production process used by the studio: modelling, rigging (or creating “digital puppets”), surfaces, sets and cameras, animation, simulation, lighting and rendering (or creating images with photographic realism). In each section, the visitor will find digital interactive activities to experience the real problems that the Pixar team faces, and also physical interactive activities to provide all the information they need. Visitors can also watch videos with the first-hand experiences of Pixar's workers.
