Easter Week in Jerez de los Caballeros

The popular celebration recreates the passion and death of Jesus Christ every year in one of the most stunning monument complexes in Extremadura, in Jerez de los Caballeros.

During the week you can see processions (parades with religious sculptures) along the streets of the historic centre. It begins on Palm Sunday with the procession of the Borriquita. The most well-known processions take place on Holy Monday, with the "empaloas" (the crucified), Holy Thursday and the early morning of Holy Friday, as well as Easter Sunday with the procession of Santo Encuentro.
