Girona
The museum is located in a 10th-century Benedictine monastery, which is a notable example of Catalan Romanesque. The first materials displayed at this museum came from Empúries. The collection was later completed with Roman tombstones and sculptures and sets of medieval epigraphy from Girona. Today, it specialises in prehistory and archaeology. Since 1992 it has been part of the Archaeology Museum of Catalonia.
