The history of Minorca

This museum is located in an old Franciscan convent, a Baroque building from the end of the 17th century.

Its heritage collection, with items discovered around the island, is a chance to explore the history of Minorca. The exhibits are distributed over two floors. On the first floor there are items related to pre-Talayotic culture, Talayotic culture up to the Roman conquest, and the Roman and Byzantine periods. On the second floor you can see the following topics: History of the Convent, the Moorish period, 18th-century Minorca, Painters and Maó Port, Maps of Minorca, Minorca in the 19th and 20th centuries, and 20th century paintings. On the ground floor you will find the assembly room and two temporary exhibition rooms.
