It is located in the castle of the Marquis of Los Vélez, in Cuevas del Almanzora.

The museum's collection, donated by the well-known local historian and journalist Antonio Manuel Campoy, includes an outstanding collection of 20th-century painting and sculpture. It also holds the Campoy archive and personal library.
