This was the route which saw the greatest commercial and crafts activity and the most traffic, once the Way of Saint James became established. It is also the location of the Torquemada and Álvarez de Toledo palaces, and the chapel of Omañas. Fray Martín Sarmiento and the novelist Gil y Carrasco were both born in houses along this street.
