It has been recognised by the European Commission as a European Destination of Excellence (EDEN), for its sustainable tourism proposal. It is part of the Marismas de Santoña, Victoria and Joyel Natural Park.

It consists mainly of marshes, characterised by the tides and thousands of migratory birds. It has two bird observatories and a viewpoint for visitors. It also boasts educational paths and visitor centre to find out about the local industrial, landscape and natural heritage.

    Tour the park to learn about the traditions of agriculture, fishing and shellfishing. Explore the village of Arnuero, largely restored in recent years. In fact, some of the most significant buildings house the visitor centres.

    The environment is strongly shaped by the action of the tides, as can be seen in its beautiful fine sand beaches. Further in, you can find great natural assets.
