Zuazo Bridge in San Fernando (Cadiz, Andalusia)

San Fernando

Historic city in the heart of the Bay of Cadiz

Cádiz

San Fernando is in the heart of the Bay of Cádiz, connected to the capital of Cádiz by an eight-kilometre spit of land.

Its historical heritage includes the castle of San Romualdo, a medieval fortress; the 18th-century Main Church, where the deputies of the first Constituent Cortes of Spain swore their oaths in 1810; and the Naval Museum, also from the same period. The buildings of the Royal Institute and Observatory of the Navy, the Pantheon of Illustrious Sailors and the Town Halls are also worth a visit.Another of its great attractions is the Camposoto-El Castillo beach, which is five kilometres long and near which is the visitor centre of the Bahía de Cádiz Natural Park. In the botanical garden you can see a representation of the vegetation typical of the province of Cádiz.San Fernando is also known for being the birthplace of the famous flamenco singer Camarón de la Isla. His birthplace and visitor centre are just a few of the places to visit along the artist's route. .
