Punta Umbría in Huelva (Andalusia)

Punta Umbría

Huelva

A town located near the capital, on the banks of the Odiel river. At present, it is an important tourist destination, due to its magnificent beaches.

The town, surrounded by pine groves, owes its origins to a tower that sits on top of the peak known as Punta de Umbría. The tower was built in the 14th century with the intention of warning the populace of potential invasions. During the summer, so-called "canoes" are available, connecting Punta Umbría and Huelva. In this township we find the Marshes of Odiel Nature Reserve, and Los Enebrales Nature Park, two natural paradises of great environmental interest.
