L'Ametlla de Mar

Tarragona

On the Costa Daurada, l'Ametlla de Mar is a destination to relax and enjoy water sports and scuba diving. There is a fishing harbour and 24 beautiful sandy or rocky coves, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, surrounded by pine forests and cliffs.

As regards the gastronomy, seafood dishes stand out, such as "fideuada"; and rice dishes, such as "suquet" with local fish from the coves, and "l'arrosejat". The "zarzuelas" and grilled fish are also typical. It celebrates its fiestas in honour of the Virgen Candelaria during the first week of February. In l'Ametlla de Mar you can visit the Popular Ceramics Museum, and the Castle of Sant Jordi d'Alfama, built in the 12th century. You can get there on the AP-7 toll motorway, and the nearest airport is Reus, 35 kilometres away.
