Castile and Leon hosts a monographic exhibition of the work of the Valencian painter Joaquín Sorolla for the first time. It is an exhibition of 40 of his paintings, studies and photographs, as well as costumes and jewellery, used by the artist to construct his memory, which combine the Spanish tradition of the time with the modernity that was emerging in the country. A modernity that is also reflected in the place that hosts these works, the Compostilla I thermal power station in Ponferrada, one of the city's industrial heritage sites, now converted into a cultural space.
The exhibition also has a sensory room where, through multi-screens and immersive music, visitors can immerse themselves in the artist's creations and contemplate photographs, personal writings, drawings and newspaper articles. The tour ends in the virtual reality room that allows you to walk along the Malvarrosa beach in his work “Paseo a la orilla del mar” or visit his studio.
