The Portuguese artist, winner of the 2026 Julio González Prize, is the focus of this exhibition, which traces her career and includes a work created specifically for the IVAM’s main venue.Known for her large-scale installations and sculptures, Vasconcelos transforms everyday objects and textiles into monumental works that challenge gender roles, identity and consumer society. Her work combines colour and experimentation, with a great deal of irony, to imbue everyday materials and objects with new meanings.Among the works on display, ‘Valkyria Amparo’ stands out – a textile sculpture from the series the artist began in 2004, inspired by Norse mythology. Its organic forms unfold throughout the space and engage in a dialogue with the museum’s architecture. It is, without a doubt, a great opportunity to explore the world of an artist who has exhibited at many of the world’s leading museums and international exhibitions.
