A moving representation of the death of Jesus Christ.

There are several key events in the Easter Week celebrations in Viveiro that give the religious processions that wind through its streets an exceptional intensity and emotional charge. On Easter Wednesday there is a representation of the Vía Crucis, with the religious float of El Cristo de la Agonía. Good Friday is the day of the Santo Encuentro, when the articulated figures re-enact various scenes from the life and passion of Jesus Christ. This is the most ancient event in the Easter Week commemorations. Other highlights include the "llamada de los Caladiños", a call to serenity and recollection; and the Passion, on the night of Good Friday. Local people are closely involved in all these celebrations, as Viveiro has many religious brotherhoods and associations.
