Easter Week in Crevillent
Festivity of International Tourist InterestCrevillent
Easter week in Crevillent (Alicante province), is a fusion of art, popular devotion, religion and tradition.
A multitude of events fill the town during these days, although the crucial moment in the celebration comes on Good Friday. In the early hours, cornets can be heard playing “dianas”. These melodies are the signal for the start of the day’s processions. At dawn, thousands of people come together to witness first hand the most emotional event for Crevillent residents: the Abrazo de la Morquera, where the figures of Our Holy Father Jesus Christ and the Virgen de los Dolores meet, on their way to Calvary. Also on Good Friday, in the evening, you can see the Death of Christ procession, the most spectacular of all, with choral music breaking the total silence of the procession, which features wooden statues of immense artistic worth.
