Madrid

The SOLO Independencia space pays tribute to one of the key figures of the new figuration and Spanish expressionism, Juan Barjola, through this exhibition in which his works dialogue with pieces by more than 20 international artists.

The exhibition allows us to rediscover the work of Juan Barjola from a contemporary perspective and to recognise the relevance of his proposal by connecting it with the creations of current artists such as Stephan Balkenhol, David Altmejd, Tomoo Gokita, Eva Alonso and Paco Pomet, among others and with those of iconic figures such as Francis Bacon and David Lynch, which form part of the SOLO Collection.More than 30 works by Barjola are on display, together with contemporary art projects ranging from painting and sculpture to kinetic art and creations with artificial intelligence. All of this, moreover, while learning about it from experts, as the visit to the exhibition is guided.Information/visits: from Tuesday to Saturday, in Spanish and English, including the permanent collection. From Tuesday to Friday mornings, visits are free of charge upon reservation, while Friday afternoons and Saturdays are paid visits.
