The city of Barcelona becomes the great global forum for architecture, with a programme of activities that invites visitors to admire and better understand its most remarkable buildings.
World capital status is an important recognition of Barcelona's architectural relevance. Its ten urban districts host more than 1,500 activities for the public and professionals. These include unpublished guided tours, exhibitions, lecture series and the chance to discover unique buildings that are not normally open to visitors. These activities coincide with the celebration of Gaudí Year, which commemorates the first centenary of the death of the brilliant Catalan architect. In addition, the International Union of Architects (UIA) is organising its World Congress in the city from 28 June to 2 July, with more than 250 presentations by leading experts.
