Rum and sugar cane tradition
The legacy of rum is intertwined with centuries of tradition in the plains of Salobreña and Motril. Since the 16th century, sugarcane cultivation has spread throughout this region, becoming the second most important commodity after precious metals. Located between these two towns is Lobres, a hamlet belonging to Salobreña, where you can find this unique rum cellar that ages its spirits in American oak barrels. Come and discover its history, its secrets, and all the care that Mª Carmen and Paco put into their production. So much so that they have won three international awards.Mª Carmen will welcome us, and depending on the time of year, we may visit their sugarcane fields and get a glimpse of what the Salobreña plains once were. They will explain the processes from start to finish, covering all the stages leading up to the final product and its commercialization. We will conclude with a sensory tasting or a tasting of limited edition rums (for an additional €5) or with a tasting of reserve rum, which is included in the visit. We won't reveal more; you'll have to come and taste this prestigious elixir—delicate, amber-colored with golden reflections, easy on the palate, and evoking the nostalgia of its history.Important: This activity involves a small consumption of alcohol, so it is necessary to be aware of any intolerance and to be responsible with your intake. Tasting is only allowed for those over 18; minors will be offered another beverage.Maximum groups of 40 people.
