Barcelona & The Costa Brava

Just a few kilometers north of Barcelona following the coast towards France, the Mediterranean Sea washes a rough terrain with small bays and cliffs. Known as the Costa Brava, which literally means the rugged or wild coast, this area is a paradise for nature lovers. The tranquil region is scattered with quaint medieval towns and hides wonderful gems waiting to be discovered. Centuries ago, local fishermen built a coastal trail to be able to move from one small beach to the other along this very rocky terrain in case the wind pushed their little boats to the rocks or away from home. Later, the trail was also used by the police to patrol the coast and avoid smuggling. Nowadays, the trail is an enjoyable walk along one of the most beautiful coasts in the whole Mediterranean.
