The Garden of Magellan and Elcano
500 years ago Fernando de Magallanes began a journey in search of distant species, a journey that would officially end up being the first round the world. It was a journey through different landscapes and climates, from tropical jungles to cold places like Patagonia, where they found human populations, animals and plants never seen before by Europeans. This activity proposes a tour of one of the most biodiverse environments in the historic center of Seville, the María Luisa Park, a garden with more than 200 different plant species where practically the five continents are represented. In it we will go around the world: we will explore the park to look for representative plant species of the most important stops of the expedition and thus we will recall the adventures and stories of that incredible journey of Magellan, Pigafetta, Elcano and their family that ended up redefining perception of the planet. At the same time, we will discover the name and environmental benefits of plants and trees that are common in the city today, but originating from distant parts of the planet. This route, which highlights Magellan's journey and the cosmopolitan nature of the plant species present in the city of Seville, appears collected in the stories of these species found on the Nomad Garden Cosmopolitan Garden platform website.
