This is the most important monastery in Barcelona
It dates back to the 9th century.
It consists of a church, built in the 11th and 12th centuries, and impressive Romanesque cloister surrounded by the Chapter House and monastery buildings. The rooms above the cloister were built in the 16th century. There are remains of an ancient Palaeo-Christian building inside the monastery. The bell tower, dome and altarpieces, particularly that of All Saints by Pere Serra, are especially fine. The monastery contains examples of art from the Romanesque to the Baroque. The cloister, with more than seventy capitals decorated with various religious and profane subjects, is said to be one of the most important in Europe.
