Walk in the National Park Caldera de Taburiente
Depending on your experience in the mountains, you can choose between:Comfortable Option:Walking time, 4.5 hours / distance, 12 km / up and downhill: - 400 meters + 400 metersEnjoy an adventurous hike through the National Park! Inside the about 9 km wide gigantic crater we walk downhill, starting at 1,050 m above sea level through forests of pinetrees, endemic in the Canary Islands Archipelago. We reach the Taburiente River - the only stream of the Canary Islands which has water all year round. After a short rest, return to Los Brecitos, this time uphill. Strenuous Option: Walking time, 6 hours / distance, 15 km / up and downhill: - 850 meters + 100 metersAfter our short rest in the Taburiente River , the path follows downhill through the Reventón gorge, passing interesting spots like the Roque Idafe (a holy rock of the aboriginals), until we reach Dos Aguas, the converging place from two small rivers. Here we can visit the “Colors Waterfall” before our path leads us along the Angustias gorge. On the last 6 Km we have to cross repeatedly the creek in a stony and irregular path. On the last two kilometers we'll discover interesting geological formations called "pillow lavas"
