The Al-Andalus train, a palace on rails

The carriage-suites of this train were built in France to enable the British royal family to travel between Calais and the French Riviera in style. That’s probably enough to give you an idea of their exquisite taste, comfort and spaciousness. Today the train runs on various routes in Spain, and as well as the suites, boasts four beautiful saloon cars, absolute jewels built between 1928 - 1930. You can see why this tourist train is said to be the most spacious and generously sized in the world. And if you want, you can hire the whole train for exclusive groups and custom trips.

As well as the train itself, you will be provided with a wide range of services, such as delicious haute cuisine meals, both on board and in top restaurants. Activities include shows and cooking displays, tickets to attractions and museums in the towns where it stops, scheduled excursions, and a multilingual guide throughout the trip.

The three routes go through some of the most attractive parts of Spain: the traditional tour of Andalusia; central Spain, with Madrid and Toledo; and northern cities such as Santiago de Compostela. They take seven, six or four days.

After the excursions, to ensure you sleep well, the train stays in the station overnight. Lunch and dinner menus are decided beforehand, but you can ask for personalised menus to suit your dietary needs when booking.

The Transcantábrico, a rolling luxury hotel in northern Spain

A wonderful way to see the beautiful landscapes that have made northern Spain famous, the Transcantábrico is an authentic luxury hotel on wheels, which is sure to meet your expectations. As well as watching amazing landscapes pass by as you travel by the mountains and the sea, exploring lively squares and streets, visiting places of interest and picturesque ports, you will also stop in sophisticated cities such as Bilbao, Santander, Gijón, Oviedo and Santiago de Compostela, where you can go shopping and find unique souvenirs. And of course, there is the option of hiring the entire train.

There is an undeniably romantic air to this trip,  thanks both to the locations and to the elegant saloons, some with live music, where you can relax over a drink.

Another point worth noting is the fine food, as northern Spain is famous for its chefs and its excellent ingredients. If you would also like a special menu adapted to your tastes or requirements, be sure to ask for it when booking.

For comfort, this train also remains in the station overnight. In fact, while the train is at the station, you can go on one of the scheduled excursions, stay on board, or explore the location for yourself.

Remember that you can choose from two modes of travel: the Transcantábrico Gran Lujo and the Clásico.
